ADFREELLM // OPEN LEDGER
HOW ADVERTISERS PAY THE BILL
Every free service is paid for somehow — the only question is whether you can see the mechanism. On AdFreeLLM the mechanism is one sponsored card, shown in the open, next to the answer it paid for. This page is the ledger: where the ad appears, how the money flows, and why that design lets us delete the signup form entirely.
01WHERE THE AD SHOWS UP
Exactly one place. You ask a question, the model streams its answer, and after the answer completes, a small sponsored card may appear in the conversation stream — clearly labeled as sponsored, styled differently from the machine's output, and matched roughly to the topic you asked about. There are no banner slots around the page, no pop-ups, no pre-roll videos, and the ad never interrupts an answer mid-stream. It arrives after the work is done, like a receipt.
02THE AI NEVER SEES THE AD
The sponsored card is visible to you and invisible to the model — this is a mechanical guarantee, not a promise. The answer and the card are two separate data objects: the model generates and streams its full answer first, and only then does our gateway attach the card after it. When you send a follow-up message, the gateway strips every ad block out of the conversation history before the model ever receives it, so the ad can never enter the model's context, shape its opinions, or be imitated in a later answer. Copying or exporting an answer never includes the card. Advertisers buy placement after the answer — no one can buy a word inside it. Which card appears is chosen by a separate small model that reads only your question, and when the topic is grief, medical distress, or anything where an ad would be predatory, it shows nothing at all.
03HOW THE MONEY COVERS THE COMPUTE
Running LLMs costs real money — every answer burns GPU time. Advertisers pay to place those sponsored cards, and that payment is what covers the compute bill. The exchange rate is deliberately simple: they get a moment of relevant attention after an answer, you get the answer itself for free, and the tokens keep flowing for the next person. When the card pays more than the GPU burns, the terminal stays open. That is the entire business model — there is no premium tier, no token store, no checkout page anywhere on the site.
04WHY THAT MEANS NO SIGNUP
Most AI services need your account because the account is the product: it ties usage to an identity, meters your quota, and upsells you later. Our payer is not you — it is the advertiser — so none of that machinery is necessary. No accounts means no registration form, no email verification, no password reset flow, and no login wall between you and the first answer. The terminal works like a public bench: sit down, use it, walk away.
05WHAT DATA WE DON'T HOLD
Because there is no account system, there is no account data: no stored identity, no profile, no email address linked to your conversations. Sessions are guest sessions. We will not claim privacy features we have not built — what we can say factually is simpler and stronger: the most common category of personal data, the account record, does not exist here because the business model never needed it.
06THE HONEST COST
Free and open has two real costs, and we would rather you hear them from us. First, the sponsored card exists — it is small and labeled, but it is an ad, and it is how this all works. Second, the machines are shared, so each IP is limited to about 6 messages per minute to keep the terminal fast for everyone. No infinite-use promises, no fine print. Ads pay the bills; you get the tokens.
